Easy Fried Rice

Like I have mentioned before, Asian cuisine is my favorite of all time. I used to think people were CRAZY for ordering white rice over fried rice. I still kind of think that….there is a time and place for white rice. Fried rice just has so much more flavor!

The secret ingredient to amazing fried rice at home is using cold rice. If you have time to make it the day before and chill in the fridge that is even better, but as long as your rice is cold you will be all good!

This fried rice is so easy. Just buy a fried rice seasoning package, crack 2 eggs, add a little butter and you are all set! I add soy sauce to mine for a bit of extra flavor. This pairs perfectly with my home hibachi bowls, and of course no hibachi bowl is complete without yum yum sauce!

Why You Should Make This Fried Rice

  • Easy! Add cooked rice and seasoning packet.
  • Weeknight. Perfect for weeknight meals!
  • Versatile. Add chicken to this and you have a perfect meal!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Cold Cooked Rice – I love using jasmine rice for this! I make it the day before and refrigerate.
  • Soy sauce – to add more flavor!
  • Fried Rice Seasoning – Find this in the international section of your grocery store!
  • Eggs – no fried rice is complete without eggs in my opinion
  • Onion – for flavor!

How To Make Easy Fried Rice

  1. Cook the rice. Depending on how many people you are serving, adjust the amount of rice accordingly. I did one cup of uncooked jasmine rice, and 2 cups of water. Cook according to package directions and if possible refrigerate for an hour or two before frying.
  2. Prep. In a bowl add 2 eggs and whisk together so they are ready once we start cooking.
  3. Cook. In a pan add in 2 tbsps of butter and melt over medium-high heat. Add in diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes and onion is softening. Add in the whisked eggs and let sit on the pan for 1 minute before stirring. Stir the eggs to scramble them.
  4. Rice. Add in the cooked rice and another 2 tbsp of butter. Stir around for a few minutes until the rice is hot and is toasting up nicely. Add in 1 tbsp of soy sauce and continue to stir. Sprinkle the fried rice seasoning packet and stir again. Keep cooking until the rice is nicely browned and the seasoning packet is fully mixed in.
  5. Serve! Serve with your favorite hibachi bowls, or add some chicken and eat as a meal in itself. Enjoy!
