Coconut Americano with Coconut Cloud Foam

I feel like this recipe doesn’t even need much convincing, considering the name of the recipe already sounds incredible. When we went on vacation to Anna Maria Island in FL earlier this summer, we had the best coffee drink ever. I knew immediately that I needed to recreate this when we got home!

I am usually a latte person through and though, but something about being at the beach made me want an Americano and this seriously hit the spot. The base is coconut water which is so refreshing. Then add in your double shot of espresso. The cherry on top if you will, is the velvety coconut cloud foam that is so good I may have eaten half of it with a spoon when making this drink…don’t judge me.

This is definitely going to be my drink of the summer, and I would love if you tried it out. If you don’t have an at home espresso machine, look no further. Trader Joe’s has a bottled espresso that is seriously so good! As a bit of a coffee snob, I was so surprised about how much I liked this. Here is the link: Ready to Use Espresso Coffee

How To Make A Coconut Water Americano with Coconut Cloud Foam.

  1. Cloud foam. First let’s prep the cloud foam so it is ready to go. In a tall glass or measuring cup, add in chilled heavy cream, chilled coconut milk, agave, and coconut extract. Using an electric frother (or hand mixer) to mix until it is your preferred texture. Be careful not to froth too much or it will turn into whipped cream!
  2. Brew espresso. Brew 2 shots of espresso, or if you are using store bought espresso measure out 2 ounces.
  3. Assemble. In a pretty glass (and yes it has to be pretty that is half of the fun!), fill with ice. Fill cup with coconut water. Add in brewed shot of espresso. Top with prepared cloud foam. Enjoy!

FAQ

Sure! I love the coconut water for flavor and the electrolytes, but use what you have.

You can use all heavy cream for this, but the coconut milk does add extra flavor and richness.

"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

Recipe Variations

  • Matcha. Swap matcha for the espresso shot!
  • Vanilla. If you aren’t a fan of coconut, use vanilla extract instead of coconut extract.
  • Sweetener. Use your favorite! Could use maple syrup or honey.
