As we all know in my a lot of my posts I talk about my husband wanting to make everything into a burrito. This recipe is combining one of my favorite things, and turning it into a burrito for my husband. Everyone loves buffalo chicken dip, so this is a twist on that, stuffed into a burrito, and adding tater tots in because I LOVE tater tots.
I will choose tater tots over fries every. single. time. I think California burritos would greatly benefit from having tater tots add inside instead of french fries. I love the crunch exterior, and a pillowy interior. So since this is my blog, my recipe, and my kitchen, this burrito gets tater tots. Okay I am done ranting about my love of tater tots now.
This recipe is indulgent, delicious, and simple to make. This would be perfect for a Sunday when football season starts back up and you want football food for dinner! Any other wives out there who get excited for football season just so you can make appetizers and have an excuse to snack all day?
I hope you enjoy this recipe, give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments!

Why You Should Make Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tater Tot-ritos
Here’s what you’ll need:

Buffalo Tot-rito Tips
- Get the tots going first. These need to get nice and crispy!
- Don’t overstuff! I am guilty of always over stuffing burritos. I get carried away and then the whole thing explodes!

How To Make Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tater Tot-ritos
- Tots. To get started go ahead and prep the tater tots. These will take a while because we want them nice and crispy when they go into the burrito. Cook per package directions.
- Cream cheese. To a mixing bowl add in the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch packet. Mix together until combined and is a smooth mixture. Set aside.
- Chicken. I used chicken thighs and pan fried them. I seasoned with Tony’s cajun seasoning, and some paprika. Feel free to do whatever seasoning you like. You can grill the chicken, bake it, or buy rotisserie and make your life easy! Once the chicken is cooked, chop it up and toss in buffalo sauce. Set aside until ready to assemble.
- Assemble. Once the tots are done we can assemble the burritos! Lay a large tortilla flat on a plate. In a bowl add in the portion of chicken for one burrito. Use your best judgement here. Add in 2 or so tablespoons of cream cheese. Add in a healthy handful of cheddar cheese, and blue cheese. Mix this all up to make a buffalo chicken/cream cheese mixture. Drizzle extra buffalo sauce and ranch dressing per your preference. Place tater tots on the tortilla first, about 8-9 tots. Add the chicken mixture on top. Top with tomatoes and green onions. Roll it up!
- Toast. If you want to do a “grilled cheese burrito” style, preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Spray with non-stick spray. Sprinkle with a little bit of cheese in a vertical direction (the same direction you will be placing the burrito if that makes sense). Let the cheese melt for a few seconds then lay the top side of the burrito down (seam side up) and let the cheese toast onto the burrito. Once the cheese starts to brown around the edges flip and toast the bottom side.
- Toast. If you don’t want the extra cheese on the top, simply toast each side of the burrito in a large skillet over medium heat until browned on each side.
- Serve! Serve with extra ranch. Enjoy!
