Easy Yum Yum Sauce

As a kid, nothing got me as excited as a sit down hibachi dinner. The performance of the hibachi chef, the onion train that has fire coming out of it, what’s not to love? The main attraction to me was the “yum yum” sauce, or some people call it “white sauce” or “shrimp sauce”. I am sure this is such an Americanized thing, but who cares it is delicious!!

I used to buy store bought yum yum sauce and it got the job done. One day I made my hibachi bowls, and to my despair, I was all out! I decided to try and whip up my own, not expecting it to be good. But lo and behold, it was BETTER!!!!! The secret ingredient is kewpie mayo. You can use regular mayo in this….but it won’t be anywhere near as good. I can find kewpie mayo at most grocery stores now, just look in the international aisle.

This yum yum sauce goes perfectly on my hibachi bowls, check out that recipe here!
