Creamy Jalapeño Lime Coleslaw

I was born and raised in Florida, have lived in North Carolina, and currently live in South Carolina. I have lived and breathed southern cooking my whole life, so I love all southern comfort food. Coleslaw is a staple side in most southern households. I know people either love it or hate, but you guessed it, I love it! I pride myself on being the least-picky-eater you will ever meet!

This coleslaw is definitely a spin from what comes to mind when you think of classic coleslaw. This is still creamy in that classic way, but the zip of the apple cider vinegar, and the spice of the jalapeño is such a great twist!

Feel free to eat this on it’s own, or accompanied on fish tacos. This recipe is great on my favorite fried chicken sandwich, and it also is incredible on my shrimp tacos!

Why You’ll Love This Coleslaw

  • Creamy. You still get that classic coleslaw flavor, just with a twist!
  • Crunchy. The perfect topping to any seafood taco.
  • Stands alone. Eat this with a spoon right out of the Tupperware….
  • Easy. Don’t worry about shredding your own cabbage, just buy the coleslaw mix at the store.
Coleslaw mix in a bowl, with mayonnaise and apple cider in a bowl on the side. A jar of honey and jalapeno laying on the cutting board.

How to Make This Coleslaw

Please see recipe card at the bottom of this post for the full recipe details.

  1. Add the cabbage. In a large mixing bowl, add the coleslaw mix. Add in the diced jalapeño and mix in.
  2. Prep the dressing. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the apple cider vinegar, honey, lime juice, mayo, sour cream, salt, and seasonings.
  3. Mix it! Pour the mixed dressing over the coleslaw mix and stir well until fully coated.
  4. Refrigerate. I would let this sit in the fridge an hour or two before serving.
  5. Enjoy! Top with fresh chopped cilantro and cracked black pepper.
